It does not work on the 10gbe port so if like me you have the 2gb service it’s not suitable. there are ways to bypass the hub 5x and use your own router but that’s not something that we can openly discuss in detail here and certainly is not for the average user. I didn’t have modem mode even as an option on my hub 5x I then performed a factory reset and the option appeared. It worked right away on the yellow ports with no special config but nothing I tried would work on the e 10gbe port worked (cloning Mac, setting various vlans, dhcp options, hard coding the ip that was handed out on the other ports etc). what you are talking about is above normal usage so if you want to look into it you may want to google “virgin media hub 5x WAS-110” there’s a guide and a link to a discord were you can do what your looking for but it’s not supported or discussed in detail on this forum. Re: Virgin Stream Second Box I'm a 2gig broadband customer in an xgs-pon area... so in theory if I took out the mega tv bundle that would let me get multiroom but is there no in-between do I have to have the highest tv bundle with mostly channels I don't want to be able to get even 1 additional box. I could get that the number of additional boxes could scale with the package but your options are 1 box and an range of package or every channel and 1-6 boxes. Re: Router cable extension or just replace the cable yourself, what service / broadband router do you have? Re: Hub 5x Modem Mode appears to be here - 15/09/24 I'm waiting for the WAS-110 to arrive I went for a group buy so ETA is next month some time. The process does not involve using anything other than the information written on the label of the router. It should be no more reverse engineering than entering the wifi password from the bottom of the router is. What I personally think should be the stance is, "we know it happens, if you do it then your unsupported, any issues will only receive support when our own hardware is connected". Re: Hub 5x Modem Mode appears to be here - 15/09/24 there's 100% a way of doing it, im not talking about the specifics but google is your friend (what I said im buying and the name of the isp). Re: Hub 5x Modem Mode appears to be here - 15/09/24 im going to pull the trigger and a WAS-110 SFP+ Module and just replace the whole hub 5x altogether. I know it is "unsupported" but given that the hub 5x doesnt do wifi well, dhcp well, or dns well its a lame duck in the loop that I want rid of. Re: Hub 5x Modem Mode appears to be here - 15/09/24 I have the same software build but I don't see the option yet. Got my hopes up then but no joy. Really wish they had given an option to have an ONT and supply our own solution. Any future plans for multiroom stream? Hi there I just took out services again with virgin im in a XGS-PON area so no coax. I took a stream box with my package and as I understand it its 1 per household. The question is does anyone know if there's any future plans to change this. Surely they don't expect to replace coax servies with single tv options? Most uk homes have more than one tv now days. i took it anyway because £35 one off is worth a punt but i'll never be paying for extra channels on one box only and I cant be bothered moving it all the time so it will just be religated to being a freeview box for the spare room where I dont have an arial or sat feed. It just seams a little half baked as a product at the moment. Re: Hub 5x Modem Mode See for me I see 2 gig symetrical as being far above your average users needs. Its the higher end users that want packages like that and you know what im happy to pay for a decent package with decent options. If im willing to drop several grand on my own hardware im surely willing to pay a few quid more to use that hardware.
