Re: issue recording multiple programs with same name I think on the V6\TiVo, you could have accomplished this with a Wishlist based on the program title, but that is a feature that is not available on the 360 as it's a TiVo patent. Are the programs on at specific times, possibly a manual recording for that time each day? Though I'm not sure that the 360 supports that either. Re: Virgin TV Go app Unlikely to be any significant updates, the V6\TiVo system and the old control app were developed by TiVo and modified slightly for VM, which is why they're considerably better with more features. VM have not been updating the main 360 software in any significant way and are pushing pretty rapidly towards going to Stream only by the sound of it, so can't see there being any updates related to recordings at this point. Re: charged twice for netflix I believe VM bill in advance, so that just sounds like the payment for Netflix from 14/12 when you signed up, and then the payment for the next month starting on 14/1, so all seems fine. You have two charges this month as you signed up mid way through the billing period, then going forward there will be one charge each month, so your next bill will have the charge for the month starting 14/2. Re: V6 to 360 The 360 "upgrade" (it's not) as standard just installs new software on the box, so as the issues you're having sound like cable or hard disk issues it's not going to fix them. As has been suggested, you're probably better off just trying to get the V6 fixed and then hanging on to it until VM force you on to Stream. Re: As far as I know, Quickplay should work on all recordings, though obviously not when watching live TV or streaming, not sure about if you are watching buffered TV slightly behind live i.e. trying to catch up quickly. Do you have any examples of specifically where it doesn't work? Re: V6 versus 360 Some of the missing features are as follows; Quickplay (play 10% faster with audio), Wishlists (where you can set the box to record programs on certain subjects or featuring certain people), undelete, series link+, suggestions, setting of series links for programs not in the current TV guide, ethernet control, keyboard support via USB, turning off the mini-preview screen while browsing menus, switching between tuners with constant buffering, skip-back on fast-forward, default recording options, cancelling individual recordings from a series link, multi-channel series links, radio channels allowing recording of radio, separation of recordings between boxes, watching recordings when internet is not available and probably a few others I've forgotten. Also, extra boxes do not have their own hard disks or tuners (unless converted from a V6 box), so you lose storage space and recording ability and are also reliant on the main box being on to watch and set recordings and also on having a decent wi-fi signal (or ethernet cable) between the two boxes when watching recordings. If the boxes are used by independent family members i.e. older children living at home, then there is also the issue of recordings being pooled across all boxes, so everyone's recordings are mixed up, rather than being separated. This also means that if there is a show that both people watch and one person watches and deletes it then it is gone for the other person as well, and can't be recovered due to the lack of undelete. Re: Netflix I believe all standard VM contracts now include Netflix with ads, rather than ad free, unless you pay the extra, presumably your contract changed when you upgraded the speed. VM customer service agents don't seem to consider this a change in your package, much like losing TNT sports or having features removed from the set top box when you switch from V6\TiVo to 360\Stream. I'd suggest getting a separate sub to Netflix, then you can easily cancel and just get a months access now and again if there's anything in particular you want to watch. Re: TV Very Quiet That sounds to me like an agent who's been told to push people to switch to 360\Stream, as I assume that's what you're being switched to rather than a V6? Can't see it making any difference to the volume other than by chance of a different setting being the default. VM definitely have a push to get people off of the superior V6\TiVo system on 360 and then Stream as it's cheaper for them. I would have suggested checking the audio settings and trying switching some of them to see if that helped, I believe the culprit can often be having Dolby Digital set, rather than PCM if you have an older system. Also, probably worth checking a different source, DVD player or in-built TV apps (if you have them) to confirm whether it is the TV or the TiVo. Re: Replace a Tivo for 360 Box I don't believe you can record TV with the 360 when the internet is down, and you can't watch recorded programs on it without the internet. I would assume watching live TV would work, though can't actually confirm that (though I would have assumed you could have watched recordings, so who knows...). If you have a V6 TiVo I'd personally stick with it, if you have one of the original curved top TiVos it might be worth seeing if you could get it switched to a V6. Definitely don't get fobbed off with a Stream box though, that doesn't record at all, and needs an internet connection for everything including live TV.
