Good idea to change the SSID to match my previous hub, because it seems like the wifi pods are specifically associated with an SSID on dispatch. Engineers didn't know how to switch them to a new SSID - other than calling Tech Support and asking for them to be replaced. The engineers were very dismissive of the wifi pods and recommended dumping them and getting a mesh network instead. (they recommended DECOS) Anyway, all working, and with the Hub5 I can once again connect my Unifi Range Extender - so my original problem was probably a fault. Having said that, not sure I need the range extender now - I'm quite happy with the pods and am getting 80Mbps in a distant room that previously wouldn't even connect. I did find that the pods don't support the WPA3 mode on the Hub though, and everything else on my network switched from the pods to my Hub when I enabled it. So I'm back to WPA2. Thx for help y'all Re: Have my new WiFi Pods shut down my Unifi Range Extender? Let me press pause on this one for a bit - there may be other issues. My Hub3 was dropping out this morning and VM are sending out an engineer with a Hub5, so let's see what happens then. Slightly annoying, because I've already been up a ladder on the roof to change the wifi network of the security cameras, so I'll have to brave it all again! Re: Have my new WiFi Pods shut down my Unifi Range Extender? I don't think so. It was all working on Wednesday before I installed my second WiFi pod. And also, the light on the pod went white when I disconnected from the router, so I guess it must be connected still. Re: Have my new WiFi Pods shut down my Unifi Range Extender? To the 2 questions above: No, I don't recall that I changed any settings in the Hub to enable the Unifi device. It was set up some years ago, but I'm sure I've pressed the reset button a few times since then. However, I tried turning off the pods and re-booting (not resetting) the Hub without the pods: the Unifi device wifi started up (so I thought "ah ha"), but then it disappeared (so I thought "huh") 2. Seems like the Unifi device has dropped off the Hub list of devices completely now though, so I can't find the IP address to test whether there's an admin menu presented. Re: Have my new WiFi Pods shut down my Unifi Range Extender? Good questions: I can't see the UnifiAP-AC-LR in Connected Devices under "Ethernet" connections for some reason, but yes I can see it connected - and with an allocated IP address - in other views. I have Unifi network controller software on iPhone and on my macbook, but it doesn't seem like I can connect to - or even see - the device for some reason. I've also tried downloading Hostifi but I can't seem to discover the device. This is what the Unifi manual says: Steady Blue with occasional flashing: Indicates the device is in an isolated state (all WLANs are brought down until an uplink is found). Any ideas? Re: Have my new WiFi Pods shut down my Unifi Range Extender? Yes, that's the series. My model my be slightly different, but it's that series. I use it not as a repeater, but to broadcast a different SSID. Have my new WiFi Pods shut down my Unifi Range Extender? I've just installed a couple of WiFi pods in my house. They seem to be working well. Previously I was using a Unifi LR Range extender that plugged into my Hub via an Ethernet cable. The Hub was NOT in modem mode, and the Hub Wifi and the Range Extender were on difference SSID's and have worked OK together for the past 2-3 years. After installing the second WiFi pod yesterday, my Unifi Range Extender has stopped working and is just flashing blue. Is this something that the pods have caused (either intentionally or not)? Or is it pure coincidence? I was keeping the range extender operational for now whilst I evaluate the Pods, and also because my security cameras require me to get up a ladder to reset them and change the wifi network! Was planning to get around to changing them once gale force winds stop. G Re: Latest Phishing News 20/11/2024 Given that at least two of these emails (which I reported as well) purported to be from Virginmedia or MyVirginmedia, isn’t it possible just to block them at the server? I don’t get that many actual emails from VM that this would be difficult for VM to set up
