sudden decline in Mbps being reported by speedtest using Chrome
I routinely check and record my speeds to keep an eye on what I pay for vs what I get... on average I'd say I'm around the 900Mbps mark and happy with that on a 1GB subscription. Have done this for years. ethernet connected, third party router, VM Hub 5 in modem mode But since the turn of the year it fell off the cliff....way down 😕 Initially I opened a VMchat and said my connection speed was looking slow and they said "we can see an issue with your router we'll arrange an engineer" ...the date set was the same day I had also got info they were doing works in my area midnight-3am. I also wasn't convinced the VMagent realised the Hub5 was in modem mode. However after coming off the VMchat I ran the speedtest in an alternate browser and got a VERY different result, so cancelled the engineer. Nearly double! Chrome was around the 370/98 Mbps mark, Safari 782/100 Mbps. Same computer, same ethernet connecting, two different browsers. ....to throw a huge spanner in my investigation I was on a Win11 ethernet computer in another room and Chrome gave me a result of 209/856 (yes - upload was massive compared to download 😳). But I digress. Digging a little, I'm down the rabbit hole of turning off extensions in Chrome, clearing cache, fresh profile yadda yadda but no dice. If I use Chrome I'm seeing a HUGE decline in the reported speeds Anyone else?331Views0likes5CommentsTV app for windows

The problem started within the last week. However this same issue has happened to me before, a year or more ago. MacBook Pro (14.1.1), MacBook Air (14.1.1), MacMini (12.6.9) - all running the latest version of Chrome, but using the Virgin TV Go Chrome browser app. All affected. All want to register a new device EVERY time they are used. However the app on my iPhone 12 Pro (17.1.1) is working fine - i.e. the iOS app does seem to remember that I'm using the same device each time. No, I do not manually clear cache/cookies or have a program that does this after each session. Yes, it is happening every time the apps are used. Each time it is treating the machines as though they are a totally new device. VERY annoying! And now I can't use the service on these devices because I'm at my device limit, even though some are duplicates, and ALL of them are ALREADY REGISTERED DEVICES. Please can I get this reset ASAP, and please can a solution to this clearly serious issue be found! (This problem doesn't happen with Sky Go for example...)810Views0likes1CommentSuper Hub 2 WiFi Performance
Since December, we’ve seen community members reporting that their Superhub 2 WiFi signal drops-out completely, and only starts working again after a reboot. We’ve investigated this thoroughly, and this issue has been caused by a bug in Google Cast software on Android devices. This includes Android phones, Google Chromecast and Google Home devices. In certain situations this bug may incorrectly send a large amount of network traffic which can cause the Super Hub 2’s WiFi connection to drop out. A reboot is then required to get reconnected. Google developers have started rolling out an update via Play Store from yesterday (January 18 th ) to resolve this issue. Please reboot your Android device(s) to help ensure you receive the latest update – and check for app and device updates on your handset.16KViews5likes8Comments
