Worth ordering a SIM now or waiting?

I ordered on the 1st and my broadband install is on the 16th. I went for the 500 Mbps but the more I think about it, I'm wondering if I should have got a SIM just for the purposes of getting gig1 for a lower cost. Plus, I have a dual sim phone so it would be nice to have a backup on a different network.

Is it worth me going for one of these £6.99 deals from the comparison sites or waiting til after I'm live and seeing if I get an offer in my online account?

Hi @carguy143 thanks for your reply here.

It's strange that O2 have said you cant get Volt, as long as both are registered at the same address there should be no issues with this.

Let me look into this for you, so please expect a PM from me to arrive shortly and respond directly when you can!
Many thanks

Hi carguy143,

Thanks for your post and welcome back to our community.

It would be your choice entirely which O2 deal you decided to take and how you order this.

As long as you have an O2 Sim, you can receive the Volt benefits including the speed boost.

There is more information here for you.

We do hope the installation goes well today :).

If you have any questions at all, please pop back to us here and we'd be happy to help.

Hi Vikki,

I'm up and running with both my o2 SIM and my home broadband now. 🙂

How long would I normally have to wait for the speed boost to apply? Virgin was installed today and the o2 SIM arrived on Saturday.

Thanks.

Rik.

Hey carguy143, thank you for reaching out and normally this will take up to 14 days.

Have you activated it here

You can also do it from your O2 account.

You get other benefits as long with the speed boost such as free pods.

Any questions, let us know

Thanks Matt.

Im having a nightmare with this. I have both Virgin and my o2 SIM up and running. My o2 says I can't get Volt and their help section says contact Virgin to check eligibility and availability for my area but like I said, I am up and running with Virgin. I reached out to Virgin via WhatsApp and was told I'm not active yet here I am, writing this message via my Virgin Media connection.

Not sure where to go next.

Update on this. I've been on with o2 social media team for the last couple of days. They've updated something and reordered my renumber for the o2 SIM which should go through on Tuesday. During this time, I was finally able to activate the Volt through the Myo2 app and it says allow 48 hours for it to go through with o2 and slightly longer for Virgin so here's hoping it's sorted before my cooling off periods expire in around a week or so.
