Hi everyone,
I tried this post on tech chatter but no replies. At least 2 or 3 times a week (lately nearly every day) I have to turn the v6 box off and on to clear it because although the remote is working ok, the box isn't responding to channels and the channel display is frozen.
Many thanks,
Nick

Hi @Nickster 👋.
Thanks for getting back to us with your concerns , no, factory resetting the box will not delete the recordings on the hard drive, it will only reset any box settings that may of been altered. for the hard drive that will be a separate process to perform, and it will advise you of any effects on the hard drive, such as permanently deleted all information on the hard drive.
This link 👉 V6 will give you a PDF reader, page 46, which will be 42 on the guide will help you with the reset process.

Hi @Nickster
Thanks for posting and welcome back to the community. Apologies for the V6 issue. Can you try a factory reset on the box itself, see if this fixes it?
If it doesn't, let us know :).

Hi John,
Many thanks for your reply. Not sure how to do a factory re-set, is that different to turning it off for 10 secs and turning on again? Also, would I lose all my recordings?
Many thanks John,
Nick

There's 3 levels of reset on a V6.
1: Restart the box - standard reset. Perfectly safe to perform anytime, and IMO equivalent to a power reset that you've described.
2: Clear EPG & planned recordings. See below.
3: Clear & delete everything. This (and option 2) has a known fault which can put your V6 into a boot loop - https://community.virginmedia.com/t5/Virgin-TV-V6/Known-Issue-Clear-and-Reset-Function-V6/td-p/51613...
I suspect @John_GS is getting mixed up with a TV360 reset option.
