It's American Football time - one of my main reasons for buying SkySports.
The audio level on 517 is pitifully low - and was like this much of last season/year. I estimate 10dB low!
Sky Sports Mix (which shows NFL Red Zone) on 510 is normal audo level. So as I switch between 517 and 510, I'm either blasted or can't hear.
CNBC on 613 is also low, but not so bad as 517.
SkySports Main Event on 511 and the Eurosport channels are always about right.
Come on VM, levelling the audio between channels is basic quality control. Please fix it.

Hello Snoopdog
We're sorry to hear of the differing audio between channels via your set top box. We understand how frustrating this must be for you.
Is this the same across all content via those channels or just the NFL programming? Is it low for live matches and pre recorded content or does this also differ?

On Sunday 08/09/2024:
NFL Red Zone on SS Mix 510 was NORMAL (as usual).
NFL Red Zone on 518 (SS+) was low (as per usual)
NFL main games on 517 was very low (as per usual)
On Monday 09/09/2024, PFT LIve on 517 at 1800-2000 was PITIFULLY LOW. My TV is really cranked up to hear ir. This also seems to hurt the dynamic range. The audio level came up a bit (still low) during a commercial break which seemed to be local as it included an Anglian Water ad.
As a reference, SS Main Event on 511 ia always good..Call that a reference.
While we are discussing audio levels. Bloomberg on 609 sounds loud (but max level is OK) due to a ridiculous amount of audio compression to the point where during quiet spells the studio background noise comes way up. You can hear the compression gain "pumping". Switching between CNBC on 613 (slightly low audio) and Bloomberg on 609 is hugely different.
I hope this helps you sort the issue - especially as it's NFL season! Thanks.

Ch 517 SS NFL
Tuesday 10/09/2024: I briefly watched PFT LIve. Again the audio is extremely low. I saw one ad break which was not local - it was similarly very low.
Wednesday 11/09/2024 I briefly watched Good Morning Football 1300-1500. The audio remains extremely low.
Will this ever get sorted?

Hey Snoopdog, thank you for reaching out and I am sorry to hear this.
Are you using a sound bar at all?
Depending in what audio format they are shooting in could also affect this, for example if they are shooting in Dobly but your TV doesn't output Dobly, this would effect it.

New around here?

No I am not using a sound bar. I use a very common Sony TV.
The audio level on 517 (Sky Sports NFL) remains very low.
Sky Sports Channels 510, 511 are fine (call them a reference) ; as are all the Eurosport and TNT sport channels.
This needs fixing.

Hi @Snoopdog,
Thanks for expanding. So, just to clarify, to your knowledge it is only the one channel that appears to be impacted by a lower than expected volume output and this is constant for all content broadcasted on that channel?
Not only that, but you notice that there was only a slight variation on volume on that same channel between programmed content and an advertisement?
Can you also check and confirm that all cables to/from the box and TV are tight and secure?
Thanks,

All the cables are fine.
517 is the worst (lowest level). Usually advert level is the same, but I have noticed a local ad break with slightly higher level. A show "PFT Live" always has particularly low level.
518 is a little low.
613 is noticably lower than 609.
For reference 510, 511, all Eurosport and all TNT are fine.
[This is all in addition to all channels being lower than Freeview from antenna and TV boot-up chimes. A well known issue with the V6 which was fine with TiVo.]

Thanks for coming back to us Snoopdog. We will try to get this looked into further for you, just so we can update the team with the latest information. Have you had any further issues with the games from the NFL last night and early this morning?
Kind Regards,

Tuesday 10.45 am. There are recordings of NFL games on both 510 and 517.
510 audio level is normal. 517 remains pitifully low.
