Help stuck on upgrade screen

We’re in rented house and the virgin box is supplied for us without a working remote and TV was plugged in and working ok by just manually pressing + and - for channel but now it’s brought up the “upgrade to 360 at no extra cost” screen and I don’t seem have any way to get rid off as no remote (tried buying a second hand one but hasn’t worked). Can’t log in as not our account.  Any ideas how to get rid of upgrade message so can change channel?

Have you tried replacing the batteries in the remote.

If that doesn't work if you are paying through your rent for the virgin box I would contact your "landlord" and ask them to contact Virgin for a new remote.

If it's still a Virgin TiVo box or V6 box which it sounds like with the plus and minus buttons, then you could download the TV connect app as a temporary solution.

For what ever reason I can't edit my answer above, I don't think you can use the TV control app if you can't login.

Thank you - have tried new batteries but no luck.  Yes I can’t log in and use app as not my account it comes with the rent as is short term rental.  Landlord is abroad and not easy to contact and seems a bit trivial in the scheme of things!  Will leave turned off all night in hope it might reboot back to normal.  Thanks

You're right to think that TV Control would be the best option on a V6, but you do need to be able to login to use the facility.

A power-off should do the trick here.

Which actual TV set top box do you have?  https://www.virginmedia.com/care/tv-fault/which-tv-box

Which remote did you buy?

If it's the correct remote for the box then you  should be able to pair the remote following the instructions on the following page.
