Hoping to set up my V6 box tomorrow, the instructions state I should use the vm hdmi with Ethernet cable which is a bit of a faf to change with my wall mounted tv so was wondering if my existing cable would be ok, it is a Monoprice certified premium high speed X000T8DOEP. 15WFCNBAQEA
Thanks in anticipation.

The HDMI lead is used to connect your V6 to your TV. The Ethernet is different, and is used to connect the V6 to your home-hub, to provide an internet connection.
Your existing HDMI should be fine.

Thanks, there is an Ethernet lead included which I will not use as my router is too far away so I will do the wi fi system, my question is about the hd cable which is labelled hdmi with Ethernet.

Can you post a picture of this "HDMI with Ethernet" label? I suspect it's marketing nonsense.
As per my previous post, an HDMI cable is different to an Ethernet cable.

I found this on a well known av site so maybe my certified cable will suffice.
HDMI " with Ethernet" showed up around 2009 , it carried that data between pins 14, and 19 , along with ARC and was limited to 100mbps , this at a time when every new piece of gear was coming with gigabit (1000 mbps) ports , so it never got implemented on any piece of commercial equipment.
However , it now uses the bandwidth that was available for " internet" for ARC and more importantly eARC which allows lossless audio on the return channel.
All certified cables bought today should have the " with ethernet" channel , with older cables this was not always the case and the wires between pins 14 and 19 were not a shielded twisted pair on non " with ethernet" cables meaning they couldnt handle the bandwidth

If you are new to Virgin then are you sure it's a V6 box and not a 360 box, both boxes look the same it's the software and remote's that are different, you can check here the HDMI cable needs to be High speed preferably V2.1 or above to support eARC.
