Had an email a few weeks ago to offer me a free upgrade on my tv box to allow me to watch sky sports plus. Fair enough I thought - one of our tv boxes is an old box anyway.
We currently have a V6 box in our main living room and a second Tivo box which is in the kids room.
Went ahead and requested. Received the kit this week have just swopped the old TiVo box over.
I thought this would be a like for like swop, but after installing the new TV360 mini box I have been sent I can now no longer record anything. This difference was not explained. If it was I wouldn't have bothered! Fuming. Is there any way of going back to using the old TiVo box as we had that box to record programs separately for the kids to use in another room? Or is there another solution?
I have left our other main tv box as a V6 for now and not manually upgraded it to TV360 as per the instructions as we still have a lot of recordings on that one to watch.
Any help/advice please?

Your V6 will automatically change to 360 within five days and you'll be able to record. It would appear that you have installed the mini 360 which doesn't have a harddrive but uses the main 360.
Set up profiles on the 360 which may help but you can't go back to TiVo.

So as an update my main V6 box updated automatically around 10 minutes later and deleted everything on it without allowing me to stall the process.
Rang Virgin who said that they agree the original email offering the free upgrade should state that you are replacing a recordable second box with one you can't record onto, and that it should be more obvious that it affects all other boxes you have too. They also said that once you have upgraded you can't go back as 1701-e states above.
Really wished that I hadn't read the original email now.

TV360 is fundamentally a different TV platform to TiVo/V6 in the same way that Apple phones are different to Android. You could easily have upgraded your TiVo to another V6, had Sky Sports+ not been an immediate issue - this is planned to launch, albeit with no timescale.
You can't mix & match TiVo/V6 with TV360, so the HDD-less mini-box would only work once the primary box was converted to TV360.

Understand that. But if you are offered an upgrade for free then the differences should be explained properly in the initial communication email.
E.g. if the email had said that the second box would be swopped with one that couldn't record and recordings would be wiped from both boxes I could have made an informed decision not to go ahead. Unfortunately the email I received lacked this detail.
Just hope this thread gives others the information they need to learn from my experience.
