Soundbar compatibility?

I find my small TV speakers inadequate at times.                                                                                                             Is there a  way to connect a soundbar to the 360 box that would synchronize  correctly.....    any recommended model thats not too expensive?

thanks

In theory any soundbar should work without audio sync issues if the 360 is connected to the TV and the TV is connected to the soundbar using HDMI-ARC or HDM-eARC, this doesn't always seem to be case with some reports from users, my LG TV and soundbar work OK.

It might help if you have the same manufacturer TV and soundbar just in case there's any compatibility issues.

If you say what TV you have and which soundbars you are thinking of you could get a more informed answer, you don't really want a get XXX soundbar answer and then find you have problems

thanks but as I suspected it would not be easy......  I have a Sharp 32" a few years old with 3 HDMIs   1 is marked ARC.      I have Sharp HT SB140 soundbar ...if I have the Virgin box connected to HDMI 2 and the soundbar to HDMI 1  there is NO sound from it. ...     I assume these soundbars are really designed to take the audio if the TV is used in tuner mode but obviously not the case with  a V360 box.                                                                                 I note there is Optical audio connections on all of these... is this the way to go and do you connect to the TV or 360 box?      any advice much appreciated...J

Hi John,

You might need to go into the TV's sound / audio settings my LG TV has a Use Wired Speaker setting in Sound out.

You might also also have something similar to these settiings

Digital Sound output > Pass Through
eARC Support > On

Hi @JohnHemel

You haven't said which model Sharp YV you have, however, is HDMI1 marked as HDMI-ARC?  Generally the HDMI Arc port on a TV is HDMI 2. If the Arc is HDMI port 2 then try connecting the soundbar to HDMI 2,  and the 360 to HDMI port 1.

Is your HDMI cable HDMI 1.4 or HDMI 2.0?  If it's HDMI 1.4 you will need to replace with a HDMI 2.0 cable.

You might also need to turn on CEC on your TV. Some Sharp models call it Aquos Link Control   - if it Aquos Link Control then try the following:-

HDMI CEC:

Press the Menu button on your Sharp TV remote. > Select System Options. >Select AQUOS Link Setup. > Set AQUOS Link Control to On.

HDMI ARC:

Press the Menu button on your Sharp TV remote > Select System Options > Select AQUOS Link Setup > Set Audio Return Channel to Auto.

Been having issues trying to get my virgin media 360 streaming device to work with my soundbar. soundbar is only 2 years old. tv is jvc fire tv & soundbar is also jvc. only 1 hdmi on the soundbar. which is connected to the hdmi arc port on the TV. virgin media hdmi is in another port.

tv and sound bar work perfect together for apps etc.

arc is switched on in the settings etc.

when the virgin media device was first connected, worked 100%. Until we turned off the TV and back on again later. no sound at all. it's worked temporarily by changing loads of settings and trial and error unplugging and restarting everything in a specific order (not sure what I did but it worked). again, came back to it and it doesn't work anymore

does anyone know what the ideal settings should be for my TV
