So after a while with various recordings getting corrupted, my hard drive has finally lost the plot.
Recordings for today were 50% there, 50% garbage and audio cutting out. Live tv signal is perfect so no issues with the signal.
If I pause live TV and then play back I get the same garbled video.
What's the quickest way of getting an engineer/replacement?

You've perfectly described a failing HDD.
VM Fault reporting is on 150 from a Virgin phone or 0345 4541111, follow the options for "I have a fault". VM staff respond on these boards, if you don't mind waiting a day or so response.
