    I had some difficulty with the edge and chrome browser updates, would not update, said update already running?

    There was an error code-

    (error code 7: 0x80040902: 60 -- system level).

    I did a restart and my computer updated, yet nothing in widows update records, so may have been a google update which prevented browsers updating until I did a restart.

    I was then able to complete the manual browser udates to the latest versions mentioned in the two previous posts, on the chrome and edge browsers, also updated my waterfox browser, no issue with that.

Browser updates today-

Microsoft EdgeVersion 111.0.1661.43 (Official build) (64-bit)

Chrome is up to date
Version 111.0.5563.65 (Official Build) (64-bit)
 
firefox   110.0.1- did not update on download and restart so unchanged.
 
opera- not sure how to update opera?  no obvious method unless it auto updates?

    I could not see the way to update Opera either, so maybe you're right it probably updates automatically

    To update the opera browser the click on the red  O (opera icon) menu button on the very top left of the screen and select update and recovery.from the menu that pops up.
     
    I had forgot how to update but googled it.

    Edge gets another update, which seems to be automatic.  As said elsewhere, these updates aren't always automatic; for Chromium based browsers (most are), following the instructions on page 1 of this thread should keep you up to date.  Version numbers are posted below to all updates of browsers mentioned in the thread are posted below for continuity purposes, as I don't have all of them on my machine.  If you use browsers other than those listed below [e.g. Brave] feel free to post instructions/version numbers here.

    The opera free vpn in browser.- is it any good?
    Today the vpn  can be selected, recently it was not not working and prompted for a paid option.
    However, when the opera vpn is selected, my antivirus Malwarebytes pro keeps blocking the opera browser vpn website/IP address as malicious and the vpn connection is blocked.
    I have now turned off the vpn  opera setting features vpn off.

    OK - there's another update for Chrome!

    Chrome is up to date
    Version 112.0.5615.138 (Official Build) (64-bit)

    This is a manual update.

    If you can't be bothered faffing about going through the menus on page one of this thread, there is a simpler way to force Chrome to pick up updates every single time.

    • Open Chrome, then click on the three dots, then click on Settings.
    • Click On start-up, then put a dot in Open a specific page or set of pages.
    • Click on the Add a new page, then type (or copy and paste) chrome://settings/help into the pop-up box.
    • Click on Add.

    You now should have something like the screenshot below:

    Every time you open Chrome from now on, it will automatically pick up any updates.

    This is a manual update.  It should also be noted that I've been rather lazy and copied and pasted as its more or less the same for Chrome.  The Relaunch button doesn't always work.

    If you can't be bothered faffing about going through the menus on page one of this thread, there is a simpler way to force the Avast Browser to pick up updates every single time.

    • Open Avast, then click on the three dots, then click on Settings.
    • Click On start-up, scroll down to the section under New Session, then put a dot in Open a specific page or set of pages.
    • Click on the Add a new page, then type (or copy and paste) secure://settings/help into the pop-up box.
    • Click on Add.

    You now should have something like the screenshot below:
