Windows 11-became unstable-and froze/crashed.
The last security updates for defender caused instability such that windows was doing strange things that prevented normal operation.
The task manager processes showed multiple processes all at the same time with system interrupts, I suspect there may have been a clash with Malwarebytes, this was probably causing the processor and memory to be 100% at times.
I did a restore point to 3 days ago and also registered Malwarebytes in the windows control centre rather than allowing defender to be active, this cured the problems.
Windows has updated today with definitions update KB2267602 (Version 1.375.1144.0)
Virus scans were clear, however as the problem occurred when I viewed an email, it is possible the email somehow may have been responsible, but unsure exactly what happened as the windows updates are not time stamped so difficult to know the exact cause.
I have altered my windows update advance options settings to prevent automatic restart without warning which can be annoying, but although I had not ticked auto restart, the computer locked and forced me to restart?
windows11 recent updates-
2022-09 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 for x64-based Systems (KB5017383)
Installed quickly and updates with a restart that takes about 5 minutes.
It altered security settings so had to switch back on memory Core isolation protection.

STORAGE-windows 11-update
The available space on C: drive reduces after a windows update; the temporary files are "windows update clean-up" 4.54 GB.
I had 21GB, now only 13.8GB spare, 2.51GB temp was downloads.
I have not cleaned it up, the temp files may be needed, in the older windows 10, I think the update temp files used to deleted after 10 days.
I had to check why I had suddenly lost space, I had switched on storage sense, not sure what it does but have now switched it off as it seemed to reduce my spare storage space rather than free up space.

2022-09 Cumulative Update Preview for .NET Framework 3.5, 4.8 and 4.8.1 for Windows 11 for x64 (KB5017859)
Since this update my laptop keeps crashing/freezing and I have to force a shutdown with the power button and restart.
Windows updates seem to cause problems.
Widows 11 has also removed the windows update cleanup and my C: drive has returned back to normal with 21.9gb free.
I have not yet installed update 22H2, will wait for feedback first.

WINDOWS 11 UPDATE- 29/11/2022
Security Intelligence Update for Microsoft Defender Antivirus - KB2267602 (Version 1.379.1116.0)
I watched the 22h2 YouTube video thanks, 22h2 feature update is still in development, but some issues now fixed by microsoft, not so good for business users or remote desktop.
I have not had any issues as a home user.
I found my system is more stable with updates if only one active antivirus is used, I have defender switched off but set to do scans and put defender exceptions in my own antivirus.
Also, windows 11 can become corrupt and I now avoid cleaning the registry which may cause problems and require re-installing windows 11, I have also done that when updates failed and use an admin account in Microsoft but also have a local account as well.
My windows 10 also works with 22h2 but has also been recently re-installed.
I always make and keep a recent windows recovery usb drive handy, and ensure the computer has enough storage usually 20gb needed
Each computer may behave differently, but I had more issues with 21h2 than I do with 22h2, so happy that my updates are working now.

PORT 5357 ON COMPUTER-windows 11
Both my laptops had this port open, it is for sharing on the local network.
I switched of sharing in network discovery, and this closed the port.
Not sure if the port 5357 should be open, or if closing it will cause any problems or it could be used by trojans.

It was only used on Windows 7 or Vista for network discovery, later versions of windows don't use port 5357, so should be closed, unless you have network discovery enabled (which allows sharing on the network, remote desktop etc) which you should then disable. It is disabled by Windows firewall, I think, as it's not open on my Windows 10. I think it can be used as a vulnerability.

Thanks, the list of ports is interesting.
Not sure why port 5357 was open and could be a vulnerability.
I have also blocked the port in the windows 11 firewall now.
Network discovery is now set to be switched off and is not enabled in the firewall.
I spotted the open ports doing a router check using an app on my tablet, which showed both laptops with port 5357 open, which was unusual.
A new RouterCheck does not show the port 5357 open now on my windows 11 laptop.
An online scan shows all common ports on my router are closed, but a RouterCheck shows there are open ports within the local network which I presume are for communication between devices.
(local wi-fi network)
V6 TV box open port 443
my own router-open ports 22,53.80,443
Now TV box -no open ports
Epson printer- has 7 open ports
HP printer -has 5 open ports
Samsung tablet- no open ports
My own router has no vulnerabilities in the database and passed 8 common vulnerability tests for home routers.

Acer Incorporated - HIDClass - 1.0.0.10 (6/03/2023) update for my own laptop.
These updates required required 2 restarts.
The update seemed to cause an unusual event, not noticed before, when I first switched on my laptop there was a timer circle, then the laptop was already logged in with an accounts page showing, I switched it back off and then it said too many attempts to log in so I had to type in a displayed code to proceed and then logged in using my pin. At first I though it was suspicious activity but probably just part of the update system.
this may be due to a setting -
sign in options-use my sign-in to automatically finish setting up after an update- (now switched off)
I also notice port 5357 was open so switched off network discovery in manage sharing.
