Wifi pod issue

I just received a wifi pod today replacing my old netgear extender and now i get max speeds in the spots my wifi was bad. The issue is that the speed increase is great but now i have ping issues when gaming and get spikes whereas the old netgear had low consistent ping but bad speeds and i have connected them both with ethernet to my pc. The wifi pod also get very hot and it randomly restarted so i touched the wifi pod and the heat was concerning so im concerned its throttling the performance capabilities of it.(no i could not see the light to see if it changed as its in another room) Can anyone help?

Lots of concerning reports of pods running very hot recently. Please post a picture of the pod and also possibly the make /model card.
