ip assignment automatic

ALF28
Super solver

I noticed today my IP address changed for a short period on startup using the chrome browser, it changed to 193.186.4.65.v4fetchtunnel.googlezip.net. (google Ireland)

It later reverted back to my correct  correct VM  IP address starting 81.96.

My vpn was not in use and does not use google, so was this related to the chrome browser acting like a proxy and if so why?, or was it a glitch?, very odd. or a hacking attempt/redirection/hijack

Would it be advisable to select the IP assignment manually rather than automatic in windows and enter the settings which requires IP address, subnet n=mask and gateway, so not sure how to fill that in.

I also have problems logging into VM with the edge browser recently even after cleaning out the browsing history/cookies so was using the chrome browse. which does connect but needing a robot check also.

I am also getting many websites requiring verification/robot check before allowing access to the website which usually is a tick box robot check

The hub 3 and my own router were OK and could login to settings so no problems there.

The extensions on the chrome browser were normal, but I will reset the chrome browser just in case.

Not a VM problem by the looks of it?

SORTED thanks for the help

I needed to switch off preload pages  (which is for faster loading) in the chrome browser, otherwise it can act like a proxy and hides your own VM Ip adddess, it may only last for a short while, but never noticed it before today.

New around here?

google chrome-

My windows 10 google chrome  "lost the settings" , normall at the bottom of list, so I deleted it out and using the edge, brave and firefox browsers.

Although windows 11 chrome does have settings, I have decided delete it, following the odd incident which could have been an attempted drive by download of a zip file, possibly malware and switching to an proxy  ip address in the googlezip.net domain.

I read this article-

My virus scan was clear but I will do a rootkit scan also.
