Spam from lots of different normal looking names

Has anybody been receiving a lot of spam lately with just a random persons name like John Smith, Andrew Smythe, Anne Roberts? (not actaul examples). I don't know what is in them because I don't open them but it probably will be malicious. Generally subject is something like "special offer" or "something for you".

Haven't noticed any particular reports on here recently of what you are describing. But past topics have described spamming campaigns, targeting VM email users, from particular domains (one from the past involved .eu domains IIRC).

Best advice for the long term is to set up an email address with a proper email provider and gradually move your email contacts and services over to that new email address. VM's email service is the source of regular complaints on the forums due to failures, security issues and spamming. You would greatly reduce the likelihood of experiencing such problems by moving your email to a different provider.

What type of spam is this, is it companies emailing you or just random people you do not know?
