Scam calls pretending to be Virgin Media

Just to advise I have had two scam calls pretending to be Virgin media from numbers:

Advised there was a 30% discount to be applied to my account asked name, address, email and amount of last bill. Dropped the call then another male phoned back advised he was the manager and explained he needed my bank details to apply the discount to my bill which would drop top £75 a month. Remember never give anyone your bank details who phones - if it's true Virgin would put in writing when I requested a letter the call was dropped. What is worrying is I wrote a letter to Virgin Media last week about my bill does this suggest they have a data protection breach?

Often suggested on here when these kinds of coincidental events occur but no one has ever come up with any conclusive evidence on here to prove such a thing is happening.
