020 3743 6971 - Is this a VM phone number or is this scam number

I got a call today from this number who knew my (old) contract with VM had just ended and wanted to offer me a special discount.

I said I wasn't sure who they were and rung off.

Is this a genuine VM number / number of an agency sub contracted by VM.

If it is would definitely be interested in being offered a special discount (as loyal customers never get as good a deal as new ones)!

Thanks

Problem sorter

The online reviews suggest it is a scam https://who-called.co.uk/Number/02037436971

However the dodgy offshore call centre outfits VM chooses to use for official sales and customer service operations are very difficult to distinguish from scammy offshore call centre outfits.

Yes I saw this on various web sites reporting scams but ....

Last year / 18 months ago, I got a call from a number that began 020 3743 69## (last 2 were different from today's) and got a very good deal. That earlier call came because I had logged a complaint. And this call comes after I made a complaint.

In which case I would be very happy to get some sort of a discount on my package in compensation for the issues I have been having.

Just didn't want to give my full details to a caller who wasn't able (or not trained to say) "I am calling on behalf of VM following your complaint of  ## July 2024 )

If you read my earlier post you will see that i got contacted from a very similar number last year after a complaint against VM.

It was verified as being a VM sub contractor.

As a result I got a very good deed.

And as the number that called me earlier today was so similar, and I had just made a complaint I was thinking of following it up.

Because no one on here has heard of it doesn't mean its a phoney set up.

And it could well be that all those who (quite rightly as I am doing) questioned the telephone call because they dont explain my all have missed the opportunity to get a good deal from VM.

But maybe that is part of the ploy, they technically follow up complaints with an offer of a reduced price package but do it in such a way that everyone is suspicious and not reduce priced deals are taken up!

Just came back to say that after a bit of googling I saw on a MoneySaver forum that the number 020 3743 6950 is linked to an external agency (Colt Technologies) but operates what VM calls their "Retention" service.

So am now wishing I hadn't put the phone down on the number listed above as I may have lost a good deal.

As far as I can make out you cant ring them back, or you wait so long on the line, you just get the other person has cleared.

For anyone who wants to make a note the number I got a call from 18 months ago that lead to a good deal was 020 3743 6950
