Virgin media white box in loft

Hi there, we're thinking of getting VM as been offered a really good introduction deal. We've been in our house for 1yr and the previous owners had VM buy because we had Sky, it didnt matter. Anyway now we're thinking of changing to VM and our white media box is in the loft which obviously the previous owners were happy with but we're not!! Don't want to book VM for them to turn around and say that it has to stay there. Tried phoning the pre installation team but they wouldn't speak to me because I don't have an account number. Can anyone help me with this? Will the engineer install a new outlet downstairs for us so we can have our 360 box in the living room? Thank you in advance.

Take a photo of the "white box" and post it here..

From the picture that box is being used for distribution. The outlet to the left hand side has a splitter with two cables going out. These must go to elsewhere in the house, so the question is finding them. The box contains an isolator, so what you are looking for is far more simple than a white box.

That looks like the ITB for an RFoG installation, but regardless of what it is let me assure you that moving it to the ground floor would be a heck of a lot easier than getting it into the loft. If I'm right about what the ITB is you'll need a power socket near its new location.

Just go through the order process but book a "Tech Install"  they will come and sort it out to your preference

Thanks for the replies. We will likely go for it. One thing I did wonder about - is there an issue with the splitter being in the loft if we didn't move it? The reason I ask is we get quite a bit of condensation in the loft in winter and I would be concerned about it getting wet once live. Thanks

The issue isn't the splitter, it's about curing condensation if it's a regular occurrence.
