I would like to remove some old Cable London and Telewest boxes from an upstairs bedroom. These were installed 25+ years ago when I moved into the house but haven't been used for years and will not be needed in the future. Since they were installed I've been a BT customer. When I became a Virgin customer again a number of years ago, I'm pretty sure they brought in a new line from the street rather than using the old Telewest cabling that these redundant boxes were connected to.
Can I get an electrician to remove these boxes and safely terminate the wires ? Or do they belong to Virgin and would Virgin send out an engineer to remove them ?
Pics of the boxes attached. Many thanks in advance for any advice.

If they can be disconnected from the omnibox outside, (small spanner required) then you can do this yourself & remove the internals. However, if you are still a customer & use the service from that omnibox, removing the cables is likely to result in a signal level change which will require a VM technician.

If you are currently a VM customer, you can pay VM £25 for a non-fault call out to have them removed.
