Really hacked off

On our wavelength

I  fully expect nothing to come from this post but I feel I have to vent.  I have been without broadband service now since the night of the 11th/morning of the 12th the service updates just keep adding time on to the expected fix date it is now at 11 o/clock on the 30th.  Does any one feel it is at all acceptable in this day and age for  Broadband service to be off air for 19 DAYS. Area 11, post code (not full) EH14 7 .

This makes my decision to switch providers just all the more obvious.

Hi @cheeseboard 👋

Welcome back to our Community Forums and thanks for your post.

I am sorry to hear you are having some issues with your broadband.

I have taken a look at our systems and can see there is a Signal to Noise Ratio outage impacting your area.

This is just a technical term for interference of the Broadband signal caused by noise which ingresses on to our network. It's a difficult problem to locate and diagnose. This is because noise can ingress anywhere on our network.

As a general rule it's normally caused by customer equipment e.g. loose connections or 3rd party equipment attached to our network. However it can also be attributable to local architecture, e.g street cabinets, cabling or at the origin of the signal which we call the Headend (servers/routing system).

The only way to establish where the noise is originating is for the Network Techs to run a series of trace routes. Once found then the cause dictates he amount of work required and the time frame for resolution.

This fault has been raised under Fault Reference F011387875 and the estimated time of fix is 30 JUL 2024 11:00. Rest assured our engineers are working to get this resolved.

The relevant teams are aware you are affected and this will ensure the account is assessed automatically for automatic compensation once the fault is closed as resolved.

You can view more information on this, as well as the eligibility criteria here 👉 Automatic Compensation

If I can help with anything else, do let me know.
