It’s a very odd one, but my wife and I have noticed a pattern.
I’m on Gig1 and normally get around 900mbps and sometimes more so that is good, but every Thursday morning it’s a lot slower, around the 300mbps mark. On the rare occasion it’ll drop completely but then come back online after an hour or so.
Does Virgin Media update anything their end on Thursdays?

Just to confirm, have you been testing your speed on a hard wired connection, including on Thursday mornings?
Also, when the connection has been dropping completely, have you been checking your service status to see if an area fault is being detected?
