Agreed. The fact that it *can* work perfectly at much higher speeds strongly indicates it is not the modem/router, which makes sense to me since it's hard to see how a router in modem mode could have a firmware issue affecting just 6in4 traffic...
Anyway, as you say, we'll have to wait and see what the final outcome is. I'm not optimistic of getting any quick fix TBH.
Sad to say I'm seeing no improvement here in rural Leics on a SH3 with HE tunnel terminated on an OpenWrt router. IPv6 testing using dslreports and ipv6-test.com shows throughput no higher than ~17mb/s. wget'ing a file over http from a server on a 20gb/s connection maxes out my 200mb/s connection on IPv4, but similarly gets no higher than ~17mb/s on IPv6
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I think it's way too early to expect to see any improvements yet. My understanding is that VM are still investigating the issue. My guess is that it may take weeks or even months for a complete fix, assuming that they even decide to fix it.
I have some automated monitoring in place now that will alert me any time my IPv6 throughput exceeds 100 Mbit/s so at least I will know when/if something changes.

Yup, Assuming they decide to fix it.
I am guessing they will not fix it unless it's both quick to find and easy to fix.
If the VM and O2 merger happen then I can't help but think that there will be yet another culling of staff, probably the person assigned to find this problem lol.
- jamesmacwhite5 years agoSuperfastI'd hope with Mark at ISP Review in touch with somebody at Virgin Media in the know we can hopefully avoid that now, (fingers crossed!). Just got to keep pushing on it now if things go quiet, but they'll need to be some time for their investigation to be conducted and concluded to then determine if they'd be willing to resolve it, whatever the issue is. We still don't know what it is specifically, we just know something isn't right and it's specific to VM.
