Cancelling within 14 days - 30 days notice?

Recently cancelled within 14 day notice period and have had to give 30 days notice.

Is this correct?

No, if you are a new customer and within 14 days of your activation date, see section M of the T&Cs

Make sure the equipment is all disconnected and out of use within the 14 days.

My name is NOT Alessandro. That's just a tag Virginmedia sticks on some contributors. Please ignore it.

Wonder if that is what they are trying to get me on.  Saying I have to give 30 days then pointing out I was still using their services.

Excerpt from cancelling
"However, the 14 days cooling off period is only the
period when you can cancel the services within paying the Early Termination Fee.
However, the standard process for the cancellation requires 30 days notice. All
clear so far?"

Thankfully I have the full Transcript saved.

Also had verbal confirmation of the amount they will be paying in compensation but nothing has appeared and nothing in writing.

Lessons to be learned from many similar past topics on here

* VM will try to use stalling and delaying tactics so you overrun your 14 day cooling off period and are then locked into the minimum term
* Get everything in writing and record any phone calls if you can. If not request a DSAR for that info
* Assume that any compensation you may have been told you will get will not actually become a reality unless you go to the ombudsman. Assume that any compensation offered is likely to be less than you are actually owed. Work out any compensation due yourself and see if the VM offer is correct

Any compensation due for a delayed installation is paid up to the date you are activated. VM has to credit your account within 30 days of activation. If you are still a customer and your account still exists you may see it as a credit. If not VM has to pay you by cheque.

Since you are activating and cancelling within a close timeframe it is anyone's guess as to how/when/if you will get paid.

Thanks for your post on our Community Forums @_wibble_, and we're sorry to hear of the issues you've been experiencing with the desired compensation amount, and of course the primary issue of cancelling without the need of a 30 day notice period - due to still being within your 14 day cooling off period.

I understand that this has been picked up by one of my colleagues, and urge you to continue working on this matter with them, so we can have all aspects of the matter resolved.

Thanks,
