Can you get the stream box without extending contract?

I'm in the last few months of an 18-month broadband-only contract, and wanted to try the stream box. However, VM customer service insists that's only possible with a new 18-month contract. Is that true, or are they trying it on?

As usual customer services are talking rubbish. Stream boxes do not incur a monthly fee so therefore not subject to a contract. There is a once off small fee for setting up the service and free thereafter.

But be very careful when ordering because the staff have a history of creating new contracts when there is any change. Get it confirmed in writing.
