We had these installed without our permission, (new build a few years ago) we will never be VM customers. I’m assuming they won’t send anyone to remove so can I take it away myself and will it leave it looking as ugly?

From what I see in the picture is that the brown VM box on the does not seem to be connected to anything. You could open it to see and if empty very easy to remove. I also think on the right of the picture is a green tube ready for fibre to be blown through, you could just tuck this green tube down the grey pipe. As to the grey box and trunking at the centre of the picture I do not believe these are VM equipment, although I may be wrong.

You should ask Virginmedia first to remove their equipment, but if they refuse then by all means remove it yourself. You'll probably cause less damage to your wall.
A VM representative should pick this up eventually.

Bear in mind however, that VM "might" mark the property as unserviceable for the future, if you ever decide to sell.

Thank you! There’s a white wire in the brown box fed into our wall, could I cut that and then fill the hole? It’s not connected to anything.

The white wire would be a coax cable, probably going into a socket or blank plate in a room like the lounge. Possibly you could push it into the wall a little and seal the hole.

Looks like the service pipe is laid right to the property. That & the box will likely have been installed by the builder, as has the BT Openreach kit that sits next to it. VM will not come out to remove any of this. It doesn’t even look as if the incoming fibre is connected to the box.

Virgin turned up one day months after we’d moved and when we got home discovered they’d done this. We have never used Virgin and never will. I can’t believe they just stuck such ugly things on the front of our home without permission. Virgin wasn’t even available in our area at the time it was ‘for when it was’

In that case you have every right to remove it and bin it. Don't wait around to see whether VM will respond or not.
