unable to get wifi booster because app won't connect

louiscar
Up to speed

I've signed up with O2 and get Volt benefits.

I have a severe black spot on 5g around one area.

It seems getting a wifi booster is a 'hoop jumping' exercise. I'm told to use the app connect which wants to 'install' my hub.

It refuses to see it yelling me it can't connect to 'this type of modem'.

I run a hub 2 or 2a in modem mode with an Asus RT-AX86U doing the routing and wifi.

How do I get a wifi booster when the app won't connect?

VM Connect app requires a Hub to be in Router mode.
VM Pods only work with Hub 3 and later, but again the Hub must be in Router mode.

If you are looking for a Wi-Fi repeater have a look at TP-LINK RE450 / AC1750
plenty of other similar devices are available at higher and lower price points.

Thanks for clearing this up.

I did wonder if modem mode was the issue.

The app should explain this.

I'll check out your recommendations

Hello louiscar.

Thanks for your post regarding the blackspot and the difficulty in ordering a Pod.

Thank you also @Client62 for your advice.

If you do need to look at upgrading the Hub and order a Pod please let us know.

If you do decide to upgrade your router and remain in modem mode with the Superhub2, that is perfectly fine with us.

We are here if you need anything else at all.
