Hub 3.0. has been showing a solid red light for the past week and since this started the WIFI has become intermittently slow.
Other posts on here suggest that a solid red light is overheating, I've spoken with the support team on the phone and was told to reset the hub, is this going to work?

It's part of the troubleshooting process. If the red LED persists after this, a Hub swap is generally done. It is a risk to have a faulty overheat warning light.
Wait here a couple of days for a VM Mod to pick this up and discuss directly with you.

Thanks for your first post and welcome to our Community.
Sorry to hear you are having an issue with your hubs red light.
Can you ensure the hub is away from any direct source of heat and in a well ventilated place.
I'd like to take a look into this for you, as we will need to get this swapped.
If you don't mind, I will need to send you a private message to pass security.
If you can check your logo at the top right of your screen that would be great.
