bagu-core-2a-ae91-650.network.virginmedia.net - Issues

For Months, i've had issues with this hop, once traffic leaves my network it gets stuck here, seemingly randomly.

There was a bigger issues a few months ago in the warrington issue that was resolved, however it now comes back intermittantly at least once a day. It mainly happens when accessing things on azure servers (Okta, Kandji etc) however it has now spread to Google services.

I still have an open post on the forums from a couple of months back with the same issue.

I am not using a VPN, i am not using some odd setup, it happens both wired and wireless. I can connect on mobile data and it works fine. It is also always the same VM server / hop :

"bagu-core-2a-ae91-650.network.virginmedia.net"

I would appreciate some help as working from home is near impossible when the issue starts and i have to leave home to work.

Previously on Virgin Media when this problem occurred, it could be seen on a tracert <target host>.

The trace route reached the VM core node in a low number of hops and than the trace failed
to report any more host names or IPs, also failing to resolve the target host as a final hop.

thats the same thing here - trace-route is fine until it reaches this VM Server and then drops off and times out or take 40 plus seconds to pass to the next hop

Hey Josh_1112, thank you for reaching out and I am sorry to hear you are having some connection issues.

How has it been since the weekend?

Have you seen am improvement at all?

What is hop 2? as 10.53.38.173 is private space?

Private address hop with a ping of 15+ms suggests some sort of VPN is in use?

Also looks like you're using linux?

The traceroute on linux is weird for me for some reason, it always messes up for me too.

Top is Ubuntu bottom is on Windows which works fine. Both on the same connection.

You often see 10.x.x.x address like this from the internal VM network.

There are 10 types of people: those who understand binary and those who don't and F people out of 10 who do not understand hexadecimal c1a2a285948293859940d9a49385a2

Can confirm no VPN, the 10x Address will be VIrgin (could be due to using my own router)

Im on Mac, but have the same on my phone and windows machine (albeit i hardly use windows as i use mac for work)

Just odd with it getting stuck at the same hop, which had some major issues a few months ago.

Thanks!
