I have good Wi-Fi signal in most rooms but rooms at the back of the house has weak or no signal looking on the help pages it says that I can order pods but I don’t think I should have to pay a extra £8 a month can I get these free as think I should be getting a better speed in all rooms

VM Pods at £8 per month are poor value for a troublesome product.
Order a retail Wi-Fi Repeater from Argos / ScrewFix etc and you can collect & install it today.

What VM package are you on?
Pods are free to customers on the 1GB, or any Volt (or old Ultimate Oomph) packages - is that not you?

M250 but read that they guarantee a certain speed in all rooms, but why should I have to pay extra to get pods when I pay enough for my broadband already

It's the same for everyone I'm afraid. The Hubs that VM provide are very basic, cheap devices and won't cover the full volume of a house on their own.

This forum has a small number of core gripes and VM Hubs are one of the giant ones ...
VM Hubs are known for :
+ Arriving and not working
+ Failing with Hub 4 when the VM Connect app is used.
+ All VM Pods stop will working when the Hub is replaced.
+ Forcing a shared SSID / Password
+ Requiring Smart Wi-Fi enabled resulting in random drop outs and comparability issues.
+ Remaining the property of VM & being charged a fee if not returned on time.
+ Being useless with any 3rd party router
+ Failing and causing thermal damage to wall sockets.
+ Costing £8 each to rent per month for non Volt/Gig 1 clients.
+ Being supplied one at a time with months of delays after hours on the phone to VM Support.
VS. a retail Wi-Fi Repeater / Wi-Fi Mesh that you own, you have full control over & works with every ISP.

Do heed Client62’s advice! There are too many members here who take the attitude that it is for VM to fix -m yet they haven’t in months. Indeed the business rules set out by Client62 make it absolutely necessary to avoid the Pods & wretched CONNECT app like the plague.

They are free to you so get them and try them. Ignore any guaranteed speeds as they have to cover themselves in case you live in a 10 bedroom mansion with foot thick walls.
T&C's only guarantee "full" speeds on ethernet cable connection not on wifi.
My mate around the corner got 2 pods and has good (~90%) speeds in all his rooms - so try them and see - nothing to lose, I on the other hand, like the others on here chose (back in 2001😎 ) to provide my own high quality wifi equipment (at "modest cost") and have never had any ISP derived wifi issues.

Other ISP give you and better 3rd party router from what I have seen I just don't get why VM don't do the same other then to make more money by having it all in one box.
Look at getting your own router like this one and put hub in modem mode

Hi there @Stephenstephen1
Thank you so much for your post and welcome to the community forums, it's great to have you here.
I just wanted to clarify the WiFi Max does allow you to add Pods to an account if speeds are found to be below 30mbps in some rooms, if after 5 days the speeds are still low you can then order a second and again a third if needed. You can read more about this here and you can run the checks to see if you would benefit from this via the Connect App. If you have a 1Gig mbps account or a Volt deal then this included in your package otherwise it is an additional £8 a month.
We do not typically handle package changes via the forums, but if you would like to discuss this further then you can call us on 150/0345 454 1111.
