Split 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands up but 5GHz seems to go down semi regularly.

A while ago I split our wifi up into two SSIDs for the two different bands (2.4 and 5 GHz respectively), but I've noticed whenever the internet goes down that the 2.4GHz SSID stays available (or appears to at least) but the 5GHz goes down every time. Is the whole internet going down (i.e. 2.4GHz and 5GHz) or is it just the 5GHz. Are there any fixes I can do or is it all dependant on VM?

If the 2.4Ghz is still working it’s not the VM supply.  You need to check why the 5Ghz signal is being interrupted. A WiFi survey should help, there are lots of scanners in the Google Play store.  It could also be the Hub’s Channel Optimisation changing channels. In that case disable Optimisation.

Hello r1igby

Thanks for taking the time to post in regards to the wireless connection issues experienced with your bands, we appreciate you raising this via the forums and welcome to the community.

As Adduxi has alluded, if the issues was with the service itself, neither band would work. Have you been able to follow their advice and steps to see if this helps resolve the issue?

Try setting the 5GHz Wi-Fi to channel 36 or 44.   ( i.e. Avoiding Auto Channels & DFS Channels )
