Scam Virgin Media calls

Posted on here a few days back about intermittent Internet connection and have just had a call from someone claiming to be virgin saying they need me to open my phone/ipad etc so they can remotely see what's wrong. They hadn't even asked account holder details etc so I told them I wasn't comfortable doing that and they said they'd cut off our Internet.

Just a heads up for anyone posting in the forums

A very common scam. Glad you were not taken in, some people are.

My name is NOT Alessandro. That's just a tag Virginmedia sticks on some contributors. Please ignore it.

I can guarantee the call was NOT from Virgin Media. They will not make outgoing technical calls of this nature.

Hey @Greyn01,

Sorry to hear that this happened, if you do ever get calls like this we would ask that you report them via our website here, this will allow us to go about reducing these amounts.

Call on home line from Indian lady stating problem with Virgin media broadband in area and wanted to know the colour light on router. Didn't know what she was talking about I challenged why was calling and she hung up. The number called from was 02476395832.
