Moving router to another room

So my router is currently in my living room downstairs but I want it inside my room and my room does have the same wire in my wall but when i plug it in it doesnt connect to the internet so can virgin send a technician to fix or attach whatever needs to be connected so my router supplys internet in my room and is it free
