HP Deskjet Printer set up issues

I have recently purchased an HP Deskjet 2710e printer and am having problems completing the setup through HP Smart. Despite trying multiple things it appears to be an issue requiring individual 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz networks to be configured.

After an hour on the phone to HP support I received an email asking me to contact my network provider to assist with the following instructions:

  1. Make the 2.4ghz and 5ghz separated into two networks
    2. Wi-Fi password should be at least alpha numeric
    3. Enable port forwarding (TCP and UDP) for the unit on the following ports:
    45222, 45223, 5222, 5223, 5353, 5357, 3702, 443, 427, and 80
    4. Disable multicast blocking options (If applicable)
    5. Deactivate the entire firewall on the router
    6. Turn DMZ on from the router then add the static IP Address of the printer
    7. Firmware Update of the router itself

Having called Virgin for support I just get automated messages and no option to speak to an actual person, can anyone advise how I might actually get assistance with this problem? I am not technical so am looking for assistance with this rather than a set of complex instructions if that makes sense.

At the moment I feel like returning the printer and starting again with a different brand as it really isn't worth the hassle..

This is why my printers are all cabled .......  however....

Just log into your Hub and temporarily disable the Smart Optimisation and the 5Ghz band wifi .  Once this is done, try to connect the printer.  If this is successful, re-enable the 5Ghz band and Smart Optimisation.  If this disconnects the printer when re-enabled, you can split the SSID as below. Note, if you have any of the VM Pods, you cannot split the SSID as the Pods will no longer work.

• Access your Hub by navigating to 192.168.0.1
• Login with the default login info (on base of Hub) unless you've already updated it.
• Go to Advanced Settings > Wireless > Security
• Under Wireless Frequency 2.4GHz change the Wifi Network Name (SSID), suggest append _2 to the end.
• Repeat for the Wireless Frequency 5GHz, suggest append _5 to the end and click on Apply changes
• Try to avoid spaces and periods in the SSID names as they can cause issues with certain devices.
• Disable the Smart Optimisation on the wifi bands.

Note: do not do any port forwarding on the hub, it’s not needed. HP do not know what they are talking about.
