Anyone else had any issues with Virgin wrecking your chances of a mortgage?
I was out of the country for a while in 2023 so I cancelled my broadband contract. Didn't think much about it until I recently applied for a mortgage and failed the credit check. On further exploration, I found a charge of £22 that I hadn't paid which sat there for 4 months until I got back to the UK and paid it.
Because of this £22, I can't get a mortgage now. Has anyone had any luck getting this kind of situation resolved?
Thanks
Jamie

Did Virgin actually wreck your mortgage though? You haven't disputed the £22 unpaid charge, so a business was just recording the fact you didn't pay the £22 as they were not to know your personal life when you were abroad. It doesn't sound like an erraneous £22 because of a mess-up?
Wait for guidance from VM forum staff, they might redirect you to credit department

Also a MOD might need to move the topic as the VM forum staff do not usually monitor this community natter thread.....

@Jam3 suggest you ask a mod to amend the topic title to "I blemished my credit record by not paying VM on time"
From your own narrative you failed to pay an outstanding bill which just happened to be from VM and they correctly reported it to a CRA.
As you have, by paying it, acknowledged the debt was owed it will now show as settled when the CRA update their records, but the late payment will remain for 6 years, the CRA will not remove factually correct entries.
That is the CRA record resolved, as for the mortgage you may need a specialist broker that can find a lender for your personal situation.

Hi @Jam3 👋.
Thanks for reaching out to us, sorry to hear of the issues you had with a final bill from us. Unfortunately we have a legal obligation to ensure the credit file is correct and we are not able to amend a file unless a failure has been identified.
Our apologies.
