Trying to leave but its impossible

Matt6474
Tuning in

So the latest price rise for me has pushed me to want to cancel my current deal and leave. After 2 calls and 45 mins of my life i wont get back i have been told i have to either wait till July or pay £280 cancelation fee.

With that i opted to see if my package could be reduced for the next couple of months as the price rise will mean i would be paying £106pm. I was then told that this can be done but would then start a new contract !!!!! This is bloody crazy and has made my mind up to now leave Virgin after 8 years or more.

If anyone can help with any suggestions i would be grateful as i think this is crazy.

Nothing you can do if in contract other than pay a hefty exit/termination fee or wait it out until just 30 days before end of contract and give your notice. In contracts and in online T&Cs, VM state their new price increase regime where they removed the penalty free clauses. They also sent an email out a few months ago about the April 2024 onwards yearly increase mechanism (because of Ofcom complaining to them).

People need to remember any deals with retentions have to factor in 2 unknown price increases when you recontract for 18 months. What's odd, is that the original contract you agree to states the monthly post 18 month contract price as part of the contract yet mine was £13+ more than that due to price increases in that time, which kind of negates the original agreement of post contract price that you sign up to. It's not kept to for example.

Hi @Matt6474,

Thank you for your post. I am sorry to hear you are having some issues with package changes. Any package change with that being a downgrade or upgrade would put you into another contract. We are sorry you feel this way.
Thanks,
Zoie
