Confirmation of online order cancellation???

How can I get some e-mail confirmation of cancellation of my online order [MOD EDIT: Removed]???

I created the order online on 8/8/24 and then my existing provider gave me an improved deal so I went to cancel my order with Virgin. To say that was difficult is a massive understatement! Even though Virgin e-mailed me confirmation of my order with the above mentioned order number,  they could not find it in their system when I called to cancel??!! Apparently, I was told it could take up to 24 hours for the order to appear in their system (come on really??!!).  If that is true, then it is extremely poor service. Any way, an hour or so later I received another email saying the engineer was calling on 28/8/24. I called again and this time, they were able to cancel the order (it also has a work order number of [MOD EDIT: Removed]).   The issue I have is that I have not received any e-mail confirmation of this cancellation. Surely, there must  be some confirmation of this??!!  When I asked for confirmation, I was informed that they could not do this. I find it really concerning that I have no official confirmation of the order cancellation. I think it should be mandatory that this is provided, apart from word of mouth over the phone.

Can somebody please help???
