I am no longer receiving emails to my ntlworld email address as of this morning 17 Oct 2024. It was fine yesterday. This is worrying as my work, bank and other businesses only contact me using this email address.
Apple Mail asks for a password but after entering it the message is "unable to verify account name or password".
Contacted VM but the person I spoke to was unable to identify the issue and has referred it to tech support.

Update: my ntlworld emails are appearing in VM Webmail. When I look at the account the email address is shown along with "External email is only aggregated when you are logged into Webmail."

I'm sorry to hear about the issues with the service you are facing.
May I ask if you currently have an active Virgin Media account / service with us currently?
Apart from webmail, do you use client apps such as Outlook with your email?

Thanks for your reply. It is now working. Yes I have been with VM for over 20 years and a few months ago it took a while to go through the process of changing the ntlworld email access method - which is why I thought the problem yesterday might be connected to that. However, the day before I had installed the latest macOS software and the email issue I had was probably related to that. All now good, thank you.
