When is a blocked email not a blocked email?

Travers93
Tuning in

Why is it you block someone's email on your Virgin email, and it still lets the them through, even though sometimes its to trash, but sometimes it's to the inbox. You try to block them again, thinking you haven't blocked them in the first place, and it say's you have already added them to the block list...Well if I have, Why are you still letting them through?

The block function in VM webmail simply sets a rule to move future emails from that source to be moved to Spam.

It doesn't block them entirely.

Hi Lee,

Following the instructions on how How to stop spam e-mails | Virgin Media Help

It say's

To blacklist an email address, do the following:

  1. Select an email from the email address you wish to blacklist.
  2. select the Action icon
  3. Select Blacklist sender
  4. Select Blacklist to confirm

How ever when you press the action icon you get this

Travers93_0-1709653048999.png

So how are you supposed to send someone to the Blacklist, when there isn't an option to do so?

@Travers93  The name has been changed from Blacklist to Blocklist - so select the bottom item in the drop down list shown in your screenshot - 'Add sender to blocklist'.

Be aware that all this does is filter blocklisted emails to the SPAM folder - it doesn't stop you receiving them completely.

The trouble is when you look at Filter rules you get

Travers93_0-1709661763508.png

So they may have changed Blacklist to Blocklist, but they forgot to change the filter rule to match.

Just checked this 'schoolboy' error, yes it still says the same. Cmon VM team, this is poor, from anyone who has been hacked this simply is sending the wrong message out. Very poor end application.

Hi @Bikerdave

Is this when you press the blocklist option or when you create a new email filter rule?
