My mother of 93 has had 12 emails overnight saying her VM email is being deactivated. Is this a scam?
Anybody else had same.
I'm registered on her account, but before I ring VM, thought I would check, to me it sounds like a scam.
She is still receiving emails from me and can reply and forward to another of my email accounts.
However, she can't forward the "scam" emails to me? This seems odd to me.
Any thoughts/help appreciated. Cheers

These are scam messages. if you look at the top of the 'Security Matters' forum
https://community.virginmedia.com/t5/Security-matters/bd-p/Internet_Security
in the 'Latest Phishing News' topics you will find examples of the latest messages doing the rounds. It is usually possible to exactly match your own message to one of the example texts.

Hello preeceuk.
Thanks for your post and welcome to our community.
Sorry to hear about the emails your mother has received.
There were some examples from 21 May in the link @goslow advised, after checking today we have a few more examples of phishing emails.
Do any of these match up?
If you need to report any that are different you can do so here.
Any other questions you may have, we're always happy to help.

If VM deactivates your email account they will not tell you, you will just find that it doesn't work any more. Any message like the ones you mention will be a scam that you should ignore.
