Long winded query
I have many e-mail addresses from the old Blueyonder days, and have been happily using them for 20+ years.
Finally got around to getting a new PC (Windows 11)
Have been using an old Outlook program for many years, which worked perfectly.
New PC requires me to enter all my info for the new Outlook.
At some point in the past I changed the passwords for most of the lesser used e-mail addresses and made a note of each. Tried a few of them on new machine and they work.
I didn't change the ones I use most, so assumed they still had the original passwords which worked on Windows 95/98/XP/Vista/7
Tried one of those and it wouldn't accept password?
Went back to old PC and followed instructions on how to change password on one of them, entered new password and tried that but just get this message
Task 'pop3.blueyonder.co.uk (1) - Receiving' reported error (0x800CCC92) : 'Your e-mail server rejected your login. Verify your user name and password in your account properties. Under Tools, click E-mail accounts. The server responded: -ERR [AUTH] Authentication failed.'
Now I can't use that account to send e-mails on either machine.
Although I can still receive e-mails on that account.
Looked on the Virgin website but couldn't find anything useful, and the instructions for changing password don't work anymore.
It says "remove the tick from remember password" then "change the password", but as soon as I remove the tick the password box is greyed out and won't let me change anything.
Is there anything I can do to find out what password which actually work?
Hope this makes sense to someone? 😉
