Stream Box connection to soundbar

Hi. I have recently joined VM and following a recent installation, I am now trying to reconfigure my setup due to video/audio sync issues. I have the Stream Box HDMI connected to my soundbar HDMI and the soundbar connected to my TV via HDMI (ARC), however this method of connection seems to be intermittent and a bit hit and miss. If I power the TV off and back on, the TV shows 'no signal'. If I toggle through the TV settings, the picture and sound mysteriously appear after a minute or two, even though I haven't actually changed any settings. Any idea what could be causing this? Thanks

Are the cables HDMI 2.1 ?  Have you tried Flex to TV and Soundbar to TV with two HDMI cables?  What make and model of TV and Soundbar?

I presume the cables are HDMI 2.1. The connection I am trying to replicate is the same connection I had previously with Sky Q which worked fine. I have tried Stream Box to TV and Soundbar to TV with two HDMI cables but get video/audio sync issues which I cannot correct for all sources. TV is LG 50UM7450PLA and Soundbar is JBL 5.1 surround with subwoofer

Does the JBL have both HDMI input and output ports? If so connect the source (like Stream) to HDMI IN and HDMI OUT to the TV (HDMI 1 is usually best). This way the soundbar gets the audio directly (unlike the inferior HDMI ARC) and the soundbar passes the video to the TV.

  • Turns out it was the TV settings that were causing the issue. The TV's HDMI picture settings were set to HDMI Ultra HD Deep Colour (for my old Sky Q content) but my VM package isn't UHD. Turned it off on all HDMI inputs and it appears to have fixed the problem. Thanks for all the suggestions.
