It is Worth Scrapping 360 Box for Streaming?

Hello all, my contract is due to end in a few months, my bill will go up by £40 a month which is too much. I am considering whether to go over to Virgin Stream Flex rather than negotiate another contract with 360 box although I must admit I like the 360 Box and have used it for a few years. I only record soaps on it because I use a lot of streaming services such as ITVX. Getting in touch with CS is a nightmare at the best of times so I am wondering if it is possible to change package and go over to Stream online without trying to get in touch with CS? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

This will IMHO be a change of Contract and not a simple swap.  You will need to contact CS as the Mods here don’t deal with this sort of thing.

ITV-X is a good example of where streaming services are a poor substitute for recording, given a free choice. Unless you have a chargeable ITV-X premium subscription or are on the top-tier Maxit package, then ITV-X enforces adverts that are not skippable. Recordings allow you to skip past them.

I concur with Adduxi, that changing to Flex will likely be a contract change and necessitate a new minimum-term.

I hope you like adverts, because you'll be sitting through a lot of them with a stream box. Not sure it would nake your package any cheaper either,  what box you have seems irrelevant to cost. You just be downgrading the functionality you currently have.

I wouldn't, as has been mentioned, no recording means lots of adverts and all the extra hassle of streaming.

Also, if you want to go streaming only, just ditch VM and get a FireTV stick or AppleTV etc., (or just use your TV which probably has most of the apps anyway)  you get all the streaming apps with no VM sub. You could even use what you save to get the premium versions of some apps (i.e, ITVx) if you wanted to, then you can skip the ads.

Some people are negative about streaming but here's a better informed post. Flex is on a 30-day rolling contract and costs £5 a month. If you subscribe to any apps through your Virgin Media Stream account and it appears on your Virgin Media bill, you should receive a 10% credit back. As you mention ITVX: this applies to ITVX Premium which I would certainly do if watching a lot of it (£5.99/month or £59.99/year, with a 7-day free trial available, cancel any time) as you get ad-free on-demand viewing, access hundreds of films and series only available to premium subscribers and the full BritBox catalogue.

    Here's the channel guide.

So, if Flex suits you go for it. It's probably on a 24-month contract.

  • And you an FFW through adds on channel 5 also Quest, no subscription needed
