Virgin Media Xbox Issue

Since Friday Virgin Media broadband has essentially turned my Xbox Series X into a expensive brick. Won’t sign me into my Xbox profile, won’t launch games, won’t sync data. This is happening to many people in Staffordshire and Virgin Media are not acknowledging the problem. This is only a issue for Virgin Media customers and people using other broadband providers are not experiencing these issues. Phone support at Virgin Media is not helpful as they insist it is not a problem at their end when it very clearly is. Whoever at Virgin reads this needs to escalate this issue and figure out what’s going on. I’n paying for a service that isn’t fit for purpose currently.

  • There's a routing issue.

Folk have been posting on here for days about being unable to sign in to services such as MS Entra, MS admin, 365 apps such as Teams, MS authenticator and a myriad of other non-MS sites.

I'm in the same boat. Also in North Lanarkshire and have chewed up around 6gb of data on my mobile as a hotspot, trying to work from home the last 3 days.

EDIT: See here for more posts folk have out created on the issue...

  • Im in south lanarkshire with the same problem, xbox wont sign in at all and says its connected to the inet, had an engineer out earlier swapped the router and still didnt work he didnt know what the issue was either, surely somebody knows the solution if people have been posting about this since last year

  • Same issue in Hamilton, South Lanarkshire. Happened 2 days ago, was fine yesterday and now it’s back to how it was 2 days ago. You’d think that paying for fibre optic you would atleast get to use it. 😐

I'm sorry to hear you're having some issues with your connection to your Xbox console. Are these ongoing today? If so, can you expand on the problems that you're currently experiencing?

      Thanks,

Thanks for reaching out to us Navz, and welcome back to our Community Forums!

Sorry to hear of the issues experienced on your connection, does this happen across all devices or just on the XBox?

Does the use of the XBox run in tandem with drops across the connection?

      Thanks

  • Hi Forum Team.

I am also having this issue which started around lunch time on the 3rd January 2025.

When the Virgin Media TV box is connected to my Virgin network my Xbox is unable to connect to Xbox live ( tried wireless and wired) the Xbox sees its  connected to the network but unable to actually connect to Xbox live and none of the streaming apps (netflix etc) will connect either.

When i go into Network settings on the Xbox the Ip and DNS will populate with information for a brief second then reset back to 0/blank this will keep on occurring.

I downloaded the VM connect app and paused the network connection of the Virgin TV box and after a Router reboot the Xbox had no issues.

While the Virgin TV box IS connected to the network my smart TV does not have a issue connecting to the internet.

    Pls help

    Thanks

    Ben ( West Midlands)
