How can this be advertised as “gaming broadband”?

after having VM for about 4 months, I can easily say it’s the worst provider for gaming. I’ve repeatedly queried through agents about the multiple issues I’m having but they follow the usual script of “known issues in your area” or “restarting your hub” not really experts.

Basically, the ping/packet loss I’m having is so frequent I have to use my 80mb BT line instead, shouldn’t really have to push my GIG1 internet aside for an inferior product. They will categorically refuse any engineer visit to my home even when I have multiple test evidence regarding the issues I’m having, but because they have a green light on their end, they say “ your line is working perfectly”, obviously not. What shall my next move be? I’ve got an expensive router to work in tandem with the hub5, I’ve provided multiple screen shots and BQMs to VM but they will not budge on investigating the issue.

Thanks.

VM can't really say their broadband is for gaming but for some number of people its fine really VM go all out for speed and only for download.

    Post your BQM

when you game no other connections that would be doing download or upload are happening?

  • Welcome to DOCSIS and additional latency, depending on your connection quality and oversubscription in the local area.

  • Hi Dstrong91

Thanks for posting and welcome to the community. Sorry to hear of the broadband issues.

I've checked the system and can see we've had an engineer visit the property since the post was made.

I hope everything was resolved for you but if you are still experiencing issues, please let us know so we can assist further.

  • Gaming on VM???? Is that a thing - I didn’t realise it was possible!

Sounds about right - VM is better for speed than latency imho!

      Knows their stuff

They even used to have a GAMING tier in the subscription packages, VIVID GAMER 200, and not just say its good for gaming in the other packages like now. No, it didn't have different QOS or routing to any other tier, and was still subject to (mainly) DOCSIS latency.

        Up to speed

Yeah I remember that there was the Vivid 200 Gamer - believe the only difference was a slightly higher upload speed (only really useful to streamers)
