Certain games completely shut down my Internet momentarily.

i play a lot of games and this issue is how happening for 3 games and i really want to fix it!!

So ever since switching to the HUB 5 1gb i had an issue where 1 specific game would momentarily disconnect me from the internet that game being The Elder Scrolls Online. I would launch the game and upon reaching the main menu im met with a message along the lines of "Unable to connect to servers" normally i would just wait for a moment and it would allow me in after my internet comes back online.

Recently 2 new games released and the same thing is happening 1 of which is a lot worse than the other and stopping me from playing the game entirely, Delta Force: Hawk Ops and today Arena Breakout: Infinite. Both of these games use the same loggin service called "Infinite Pass" which is entirely seperate to Elder Scroll Online so can't find the thing thats bridging these 3 games together to cause this behavior. With Delta Force i do the same as Elder Scrolls and wait for 5 minutes until the internet stops crashing and then i can play perfectly fine.

Then with the most recent game that release today Arena Breakout i physically cannot connect to the games servers. I launched the game and the entire internet crashes and literally can't reconnect until i quit the game.

Now i am 1000% certain this isn't a me issue on my PC because 1). This all started when we got "Upgraded" to the HUB 5 and 2). I have totally rebuilt a new PC since owning the HUB 5 there isnt a a single part in my PC thats the same as before when i first noticed this issue and still this issue persists on a totally new PC. The CPU, GPU, Motherboard, Ram, PSU, M.2's even the operating system. The only thing that remained the same is the HUB 5.

We have had engineers out to fix issues that started for the whole household when we upgraded, like random drop outs etc, i mentioned this issue to the engineer and he seemed clueless about it but he seemed clueless about the entire situation as a whole anyways and just proceeded to change all the hardware. It fixed the drop outs but never fixed the fact that Elder Scrolls Online would for some reason crash the internet. Then i bought all my new PC parts and built a new system and still the issue was continuing. The Elder Scrolls Online is not a small games its very popular MMO with millions of users made by a very big studio and i can find no record online of this happening to anyone apart from 1 other post, lo and behold this other person was a virgin media customer but there was no replies and no signs of it ever being solved.

By this point i really am done with Virgin Media and i really wish i could switch ISP but this company holds a monopoly in my area and i cannot get decent speeds with anyone else. You take my money, every time i "upgrade" with you more issues arrise and its a never ending cycle. Your company made me seriously think that it was my hardware was the problem to the point i spent over £2000 building an entirely new system and it was never me it was your trash internet this whole time.

I dont know what the issue is, im not sure if you have some kind of firewall or block against these 3 specific games servers but i want someone who knows what theyre doing, knows what theyre talking about to fix this issue ASAP please because its getting ridiciulous.

  • Yes im suffering the same issues with the full release now, constantly running into hueneme concord error on start up. I have to let my game sit for 5minutes after launching to connect and sometimes when i get into games im just stuck in the spawn and i can hear the commentater but i cant move and theres no other players then it just crashes to menu and closes game. I just dont understand whats going on with it and im losing my patience with it i had to stop playing arena breakout because it got so bad i also set up a broadband monitor which shows no problems when it occurs im puzzled

@Brettapuss Just joining in here, and think im getting a similar issue to you on my XGSPON connection (Im using a Hub 5X though). - Playing Black Ops 6.

When im gaming online ill get dropped packets, that only drop externally and not internally as i have ping commands running between my PC and router, but anything thats external such as 8.8.8.8 will drop, while 192.168.0.1 remains stable.

Im not quite sure if its the same issue that you're having, but it sounds quite similar, i will get thrown out of game lobbies and then have to reload the game to play again. Not great with games where they are progression or round based as you lose all progress.

Heres my graph from ThinkB, mines reflected as packet loss though. - Im on 2gbps symmetrical and XGSPON (FTTP).

Hmm it might be the same I’m not very knowledgable on networking stuff all I know is that it’s only when booting a game up and initially connecting to the servers that it stops my pc from being connected to the internet. If I actually make it to the main menu I’ll never drop out again until I restart the game

HAHAHHA just came back to this post to update it and yep BLACK OPS 6 having the exact same issue F this company im counting down the days to get off this god awful service

  • Hi Brettapuss

It looks like your downstream levels are a bit too high which will be causing you some problems. We'll need to send out an engineer to come and take a look in order to get this resolved.

I've dropped you a PM so I can take your details and arrange this with you.

hello could you please get back to me as soon as regarding this issue im sorry i never saw your PM as i really dispise coming to this website since its usually because something wrong as per usual and im getting beyond fed up with this company. I think i have a library of about 7 or 8 games now i cant play due to this issue and its only growing. the most recent one is a £70 and i cant even bloody play it.

  • So black ops 6 beta just dropped and i cant even play that without my internet dying i think im just gonna finish this months bill and move to another company its honestly becoming a joke to many issues with most games i want to play

i didnt try the beta but im currently getting it with the full release i have to sit on the menu for a few minutes while it crashed my internet then i can finally play. are you also getting it with the full release?

  • Let me know if that changes the issue for you please would really like to get to the bottom of this its getting beyond annoying it also happens on COD when i try to play zombies they just keep blocking certain games from sending data. I also just bought a new PC thinking it may be the cause and it carried over to this PC too (i was going to upgrade anyways) so im 100% sure its the hub 5 blocking stuff it shouldnt be i have looked for hours for a fix and even had the devs from delta force baffled why it was happening and you have confirmed what it is. If it doesnt get solved asap i will be switching providers my internet is purely for gaming, streaming and not be able to do what im paying for is not on.

  • I have this exact same issue with both the same games delta force and arena breakout, have you managed to find a fix to this issue? Delta Force is litterally unplayable because when it kills my internet i get temp banned for 1 hour for 'lag switching' but i can play Arena Breakout after like 5mins of constant disconnects on the initial start up. This issue makes streaming these 2 games near impossible because it kills my stream too anytime i restart the game.

i have not found a fix though i might try Client62's suggestion since i am using the 2.5GB/s port. Please if you too ever find a fix for this i would appreciate it. The upcoming Dune Awakening game is also a Level Pass Infinite game and i swear to go if this issue isnt fixed by then im contacting Virgin and getting out of this trash contract. Im so done with this company by now

If you are usually connected via the Hub 5 2.5Gb/s port, test to see if one of the 1Gb/s ports is more stable.

Haha Yep i remeber that one, yet another fantastic example of Virgin just deciding Battleye was some kind of threat took literally months for someone to take me seriously and fix it. Itll try your suggestion now.
