What's up with email?

It seems like I've been though the same aplaver as everyone else today.

I was asked to reset the passwords for my main account and a secondary email address.  Both seemed to go through fine, and I can access the emails via webmail, but can I get my main email (from the secondary address) using Outlook and POP3?

Nope, it keeps telling me myusername or password is wrong.

The same password howeve, lets me access webmail fine???

Anyone got any ideas?

    If you are setting up an email program, are you using the app password generated from My VM along with your VM email address?

      Tried the passkey it generated for me and the new password I set, neither is accepted.

      Meanwhile a 3rd account which I've not even logged into yet, nor been forced to change the password with is working fine.

  • whats gone wrong with virgin been trying to get emails all day asked to join virgin/o2 tried that all i get is this message  IDF-12B rang virgin with this and was told they are having problems it might be a few days before they sort it i need to access my emails

  • What a superb upgrade!  Now I can't access ANY of my email except for via Webmail.  It's funny as for a few months I've been thinking about moving all of my email to GMail, maybe it's time to start that?

       I've been thinking about moving all of my email to GMail, maybe it's time to start that?

      Yes, I would highly recommend you move your mailbox away, and use a non ISP supplied mail service.  It's a pain, but I did it a few years ago and never looked back.  For archiving the VM mailbox try Mailstore home. 

  • It's strange that some people can only use Webmail, but that's the one I can't use.
    If I try to login to My Account I get the same problem:

    Your password wasn't verified. Please try again.

    big_phill​  It sounds as if you need to generate a new email app password to use with outlook.

    To create an email app password or update an existing one you need to follow these steps:

    Sign into the My Virgin media account for the email concerned with your VMO2ID
    Select Account Settings
    Select Identity & Security Settings
    Select Manage your products
    Select Manage email app password
    Click on the blue button 'Get New Password'

    Make a note of the generated password.  This is what you use in the mail apps along with the vm email address as the username.

      Thank you so much for posting this. We've been without emails since Monday night. I spoke to VM customer support who admitted there was an email outage caused by a problem integrating VM and O2 accounts, and to wait for emails to come back up. Your fix worked straight away. Why can't Virgin Media post this solution somewhere prominent on their website I wonder rhetorically. So disappointed with them.
