VM IT Staff

Does any one from the VirginMedia IT department read the Forums at all?

I am asking because the number of people having e-mail problems would suggest that something is not working correctly,  especially with the Ntlworld and Blueyonder e-mails.

VM Mail not working is pretty much a permanent feature for many VM email users, as evidenced by the many never-ending topics on here. So yes, VM is well aware.

If anything, the problems are only likely to worsen as numbers of users dwindle. VM no longer gives email addresses to new customers and existing customers can no longer create new mailboxes.

The only way to free yourself of VM email problems is to stop using VM email and switch to one of the many free providers

Yeah, I totally get that but my Blueyonder email address is associated with literally hundreds of different services. I use it because it contains my full name which is more professional sounding than 'fatsam213653@gmailorwhatever.com'.

Ultimately, the best solution for people like me is to register a domain and pay for email hosting. The cost of which can be met by leaving VM entirely and switching to a more competitive deal whilst having a professional-sounding email address (I am a contractor, a decent-sounding email address name is important to me)

In the meantime, however, the way I think many of us see this is that we are paying for a service and email is part of that paid-for service and we are not getting that service. I wouldn't change my car every time it developed a fault and all providers have issues from time to time given the scale of operations. But VM seems to have more than its fair share. So perhaps the time has come to commence a switchover.

You are quite right. I would agree this would be the best approach for your situation. I have done this myself in the distant past and I have had very reliable email service since.

Switching contacts and services to a new email provider does take time but chipping away at it over time gets the job done eventually. You will then enjoy a reliable email service after that and, as a bonus, will be able to switch broadband providers more easily.

VM has always argued that email is a free add-on and not part of its core services.

  • Hello DeeGee7,

Welcome back to the Community, and thanks for taking the time to post. I’m sorry to hear of the issues that you’ve been experiencing with your email account.

Are you still experiencing the same issues this morning?

Also, nobody from the IT department reads posts here on the Forum; all posts are handled by the Forum team members, and we would pass on any reported issues to the support team.

    Kind Regards,

    Steven_L

      Hello Steven-L

Yes, nothing has changed and from reading the posts on the forum, it looks like a far bigger problem affecting e-mail to outlook and other devices

The "far bigger problem" is that VM doesn't want to continue the email service. It's a nuisance to them and causes too many complaints. They will get rid of it entirely when the user base has diminished sufficiently that it won't lose them too many customers.

In the meantime the problems will contine, encouraging more users to abandon their email accounts.
