Unable to set up virgin.net email in iPhone mail app

Hello all,

I have 2 phones (android and iPhone).

my @virgin.net email suddenly stopped working in iPhone, using the Apple mail App. I have done everything under the sun (updated IOS, deleted and created the account several times, rebooted the phone several times), but none helped

I used the exact same set up process in android and I have no issues.

I used the IMAP set up and also entered password enabled for SMTP outgoing emails.

Did extensive search, but nothing has given me a plausible solution.

Again, I am baffled on why the same @virgin.net account is working well on my android phone but not my iPhone!

any advice?

regards

Iman

Hey ielhariry Thanks for reaching out to us on the Virgin Media Community forums. 👋🏼

I'm sorry to hear about the issues with the Virgin Media email in the apple mail app. 😞
This really is strange as it works with your Android device.

Have you checked that webmail works for you on the Virgin Media website?
May I ask what iPhone it is you have - is the iOS software the latest one and what device / make / model is it?

    Let us know.

    Kind regards,
    Ilyas.

actually I am unable to connect to server on anything (Mac mail, Mac outlook, android mail, iPhone mail)... nothing.

all software is up to date. In fact everything was working perfectly but was triggered yesterday when I tried to log online and I had to go the stacking pain of connecting my VM and VMO2; while this sorted, it left with me inability to access my emails on any 3rd party App, even after PW changed

I can access my email online in virginmedia ... but that it

removed all accounts and re-created them but no luck

      thanks

The VMO2 ID and password are used to access your My VM account and VM webmail.  It is your choice whether you set the same password for the VMO2 ID as used before or chose a different one.

If you are using an email app or client to access your emails you are likely to need an app password, especially if you changed your password when signing into the VMO2 ID.

To create an email app password or update an existing one you need to follow these steps:

Sign into the My Virgin media account for the email concerned with your VMO2ID
        Select Account Settings
        Select Identity & Security Settings
        Select Manage your products
        Select Manage email app password
Click on the blue button 'Get New Password'

Make a note of the generated password.  This is what you use in the mail apps along with the vm email address as the username.

  • thank you for response. i have Iphone 14promax

      Hi ielhariry,

      Thanks for you response.

If you can't access your email account via an app on your android device, please try the steps here

This will show how to create a separate app password through Account settings on My Virgin Media.

Please let us know how you get on.
